Evolutionary Art |
The synthesis of both ideas - non geometric abstraction an conception art - succeeded by a strategy using a computer based evolutionary techniques. This technique consists of the components recombination, mutation and selection. The key event for this was the exhibition "ars electronica" in the year 1993. The central themes in this exposition were artificial life an genetic arts. The evolutionary strategy start with an amount of basic material in the form of motives of abstract photography from Günther Bachelier and produces through evolutionary operations new variations of pictures. These potential pictures are classified as satisfactionary good or as to be thrown away. An interactive evolution takes place under the application of subjective critierias of Günther Bachlier. Selected motives are integrated into the reproduction pool. From this, motives are selected to generate new potential pictures in the next generation. In the evolutionary development of motives the process of generating through composing and fractal operation is mainly autonomic like ba the painting through self organization. The critical point at which the art takes place is the selection process. By this kinds of motives are generated which are produced with a a partly huge amount of generations.

Multiples
|
The usage of the art work as multiples is part of the work with evolutionary process because a main aspect of of these processes is the usage of the population concept. In recent works the idea is presented to generate not fully identical multiples with a small amount of up to five available examples. The reason for this is to amplify the idea of evolutionary variations in between generations and populations. Further on some selected motives in the context of editions are offered, which are published with an amount of less than 50 examples. These editions are partly published in the manual of the edition volume 4 from the publisher editon Depelmann (Walsroder Str. 305, 30855 Langenhagen, Germany). |

Contact |
Because of the usage of multiples the art work pieces can be offered at a reasonable price. This price is about 650 EUR for every qm or every meter of the large works on canvas or polyester-film of the space series and the metamorphoses series. For works presented in light boxes a higer effort is required so that special conditions have to be arranged. Inquiries and orders can be done by the contact source. |

»Spaces« | The work "Spaces" is of large scale partly produced on canvas and on polyester film. The relation height to width is 1 to 3 or more, which is not very common. Through this special relation an impression of landscape images or satellite images are generated without influencing the meditative dispute. Through the generation of new variations a continuum of presentations are generated from which the evolutionary process gets new elements to try them as a problem solving item for an indirect posed problem. This is in contrast to the discontinuous and undetermined character of the evolutionary process generating images. Given images are picked up every now and then and continued. |

»Metamorphosen« | The sequence "Metamorphoses" consists of images of great latitude. An abstract, biomorphic character is shown in these picture which resemble to the work of Moore and Arp. These images are shown in some intermediate stages. By this means the variation generating processes are stressed on which the evolutionary process is based upon. |

»Panoramen« |
The sequence »Panoramen« uses elements of motives of Spaces-pictures to compose complex 360° cylindrical panoramas. In the integrated art process of Bachelier panoramas were shown as one possible extention and postprocessing. With the publishing of the free and open panorama viewer PTViewer.java by Helmut Dersch it is possible to show large panoramas on the web. The abstract panoramas of Bachelier have a relation height to width of 1 to 10 or more what makes the printing difficult because of the constraint that the hight should be 84 cm (A0). The panoramas shown on this site have therefor no physical realisation until an order is given. Nevertheless panoramas will be a major part of the work of Bachelier in the future and they will substitute the Spaces-work. Parts of the very large panoramas will be used for editions as shown in editions_2000. Beside the traditional composition of the cylindrical panoramas some new concepts are developed by Bachelier to create panoramas out of Spaces-pictures by following a closed path. This concepts were described in context with an Open-Source-Software-Project (in german, with illustrations). For this project we are searching a Java- or Mathematica-Programmer (contact direct Günter Bachelier) |
